Active reload being used during cooperative play by both players.
Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon features an active reload system. This is triggered by pressing the reload button (
for 360 users or 
for PS3 users) while the reload indicator is in the white "sweet spot" at the center of the reload bar. Failure to press the button at the correct time will result in a slower reload, while proper timing will cut the weapon's reload time in half. Pressing nothing will have the weapon reload at the default rate given in its stats.
All weapons that are able to be actively reloaded give the same amount of time to achieve a successful active reload. However, since there is a large amount of variation in reload times, the short period for actively reloading will look very small on some weapons and much larger on others. There are some weapons that do not allow an active reload. For example the Pesticide weapons and Air Tortoise cannot be actively reloaded (the have a bar without a "sweet spot") and any attempt to do so will result in a slower reload time.
