Dozing Beast is the thirty-ninth offline mission and the fourty-second online mission in Earth Defense Force 4.1: The Shadow of New Despair.
Erginus, which destroyed that residential area, suddenly went completely silent, as if it's takng a hiatus. We shouldn't pass up this opportunity. With air strikes, we can destroy Erginus once and for all! EDF tactical bombers are now preparing for the air raid. Just in case things go wrong, though, we'll deploy Ranger units as well. They are to approach Erginus and await further orders.
Storm Team and a large number of EDF personnel are slowly moving forward in the middle of a park. In front of them Erginus is sleeping soundly after its previous rampage. One of the Rangers orders to hold fire, while another asks what hiatus means and whether it means that Erginus is sleeping, clearly not seeing giant monster in front of him.
Ohara then starts musing about the monster sleeping in front of its enemies and asks whether it knows that they can't harm it. The Tactics Officer then announces the airstrike and Charon bombers start their bombing run, while the soldiers are cheering.
As the dust settles turns out that that it's still alive, so the leader of the group orders an attack. HQ then hurriedly orders another air raid which completely misses, as the beast starts moving. The TO then warns the soldiers of another airstrike, which it also manages to mostly dodge. Ohara then realizes that he hadn't filled his quota of obvious statements so he says that seems like it can't be harmed by airstrike. After a while HQ calls in Omega Team who also engages the enemy.
When Erginus finally gets bored the TO reports that the Command Headquarters (the one, who HQ isn't) is sending Walking Fortress Balams. HQ questions the reason, to which the TO explains that they believe that since explosives don't seem to work, hitting it with large amount of mass might.

This mission beats itself on any difficulty as long as you don't place yourself in front of Erginus.
Erginus has tremendous amount of health so while the NPC soldiers can easily take care of it, you should bring weapons that deal high damage to make it quicker. Air Raiders shouldn't bring vehicles and support, which they can't deploy immediately as there aren't any enemies to fill up their Reload Credits.Don't recruit the NPCs and move as far away as you can, so you can use them as bait. Either wait in a quiet corner of the map until the mission finishes or help them shooting to make it faster.
